Simone was developed by WD Lane in Summerland Canada. The fruit's skin is dark red to mahogany and the flesh is red, firm, juicy with a dense texture. This cherry is sweeter than the average cherry. Some text reports that this variety is self fertile and does not require cross pollination and other texts report it requires cross pollination with either Ron's seedling, Sumtare, Sweetheart, Lapins, Chelan or Early Burlat. The size of the crop tends to be very reliable from year to year and increases in size with the age of the tree.
